Four students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) namely, Ekeh Isidore, Kizito Onyema, Aloysius Nwokedike and John Kennedy Kalu are making headlines as they designed a surveillance drone for their final year project.

The surveillance drone was designed by the students from start to finish. They also stated that the drone was designed as a way of curbing incessant robbery attacks in the school hostels.

Kizito, one of the four students had this to say:

''Right from our first year, we used to have armed robbers invading our school campus. The school campus is not fenced and it is very close to other communities, so usually, we are oppressed by armed robbers and there is no surveillance system within the school.

''So it is because of this we decided to do something exceptional for our final year project. We are not the first students to construct a drone in FUTO, but the difference with our drone is that it works, it was able to fly and take surveillance pictures but others didn't fly"
